We are very happy to have you visit us. The Church of the Transfiguration is called the "Church of Immigrants" because we have been an active church community in the same place since 1801; serving successive waves of immigrants who have settled in New York. Our Church is the oldest Catholic Church building in New York City.
Please feel free to look around. You will find a complete schedule of liturgical services, educational and social activities and an updated bulletin of information for the current week. You will find information about the other institutions belonging to the Transfiguration community that are in service to the lower Manhattan area.
I would also like to introduce myself and my staff to you. Please see our staff section and contact us if we can be of any help to you.
Our Parish Community is multiethnic and welcomes all people. We are the center for the Chinese Catholic Community in the New York metropolitan area and are able to serve people who may speak any Chinese language or dialect.
"Transfiguration's mission is to nourish the Catholic faith through worship and community. With a thirst for the knowledge of God and a heart compassionate for one another, we wish to be of service to the spiritual and material need of those around us."
I do hope that you find Transfiguration a pleasant place to visit.
